Message from the President

On the Publication of the 2009 Nichiyu Environmental Report

The corporate philosophy of the Nichiyu Group is focused on contributing to the emergence of a vibrant society through our logistics technology and implementing a management policy that addresses the health of the local community and the global environment. In short, we seek to further improve our product performance while reducing the environmental impact of our flagship product, the electric forklift.

Toshihiko Uratsuji President

We are now entering the second phase of our EMS (environmental management system) initiative, which entails a shift toward reducing our CO2 emissions and recycling our industrial waste. As a member of the community, we will endeavor to communicate effectively with local residents and with government entities.

The 2009 Nichiyu Environmental Report, which encompasses the operations of the Kyoto Plant and Shiga Plant of Nippon Yusoki Co., Ltd., summarizes our environmental initiatives for fiscal 2008. This report also seeks to keep our customers and neighboring residents fully informed by providing ample details of these initiatives.

In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to all who have contributed to our growth through their ongoing support and cooperation.

Nichiyu Products are also essential in the recyclable waste stream.

The recyclable waste stream, in which waste materials are recovered and treated, is an indispensable aspect of society's efforts to recycle resources. At Nichiyu, we continue to develop and deliver products required for the recyclable waste stream.

Environmentally Friendly Electric Forklift

Order Pickers (RB-70/RBC-70)

Rack Forklift Trucks Junior Type (RFTL-75)

Nichiyu's forklifts are powered by electricity. Compared to forklifts powered by fuels such as diesel oil, gasoline, and LPG, they produce significantly fewer carbon dioxide emissions.

The improved AC motor (alternating current), together with the regenerative lift lowering system that recaptures to the battery the potential energy that is conventionally discarded as heat, extends the number of operating cycles by about 20% (compared with Nichiyu's conventional picker).
In addition, hazardous substances such as lead, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium are gradually being substituted with safer substances, beginning with the electromagnetic brakes.

This innovative forklift replaces conventional hydraulics with electrically powered mechanisms for the fork shift (right-left slide) and rotational drive systems. Compared with Nichiyu's conventional forklift, this unit features an AC motor and provides a roughly 50% improvement in the number of operating cycles.
